More teeth for the little man

More teeth for the little man

Well we thought they'd never get here, but here's a good shot of Josiah's newest teeth. He's been cutting them for a few weeks now, but they finally popped through the end of last week. Another fun development, he has started to creep around on his belly. We were never sure if he was going to crawl, it was so evident with Abigail that she was. But yesterday he started to scoot a bit on his belly, more of an army crawl than the traditional knees and hand aproach. He still gets really frustrated, but give him a week or so, and no doubt he'll be gone.

Peek-A-boo

What a fun new game Josiah and I have discovered. When he wakes up from his nap, and is in a good mood, he pulls down the bumper and peeks at me. He then lets it go, and I pull it down, he smiles back at me and rolls around. We repeat this a ton of times, just as if it were the first, he always gives big smiles. What a fun little man.

Daddy, Abigail, and a Giraffe.

Daddy, Abigail, and a Giraffe.

The big day has come. For a few weeks we have been planning a trip to the North Carolina Zoo. It is about 3 hours from our house. The schools here have been on spring break this week, which means I am off too. So on Thursday we headed off to the zoo.

It is a very nice zoo that Allison and I have visited before, but before kids. We began our day in the African section and the giraffe was our first stop. He was so tall compared to the zebras in the field with him.

We had such a good time at the zoo as a family. Here are some of the pictures we took of that day.

ELEPHANTS!

The elephants were very close and Abigail loved them. You'll notice that they look almost a rust color. That is because our Carolina dirt is red and they cover themselves in it. So we have red elephants.

We watched them eat for a long time with their noses. All Abigail could do was smile and say how big they were.

Whoooa!

Perhaps the most animated animal at the zoo was the polar bear. In this picture you can see that he has a ball. He would throw that ball up into the air and let it come down in a big splash. Then he would swim to the bottom again and get it and repeat the whole thing. He was really showing off for the crowd.

Everytime he would throw the ball Abigail would scream "Whooooa!"

Even though he did not have any clue as to what was going on, Josiah had so much fun at the zoo. He sat in the strolled and entertained anyone who walked by by smiling, squeeling, and jumping up and down. So, while we got to see a lot of monkeys, this is definetly the cutest one we saw all day.

Painting a wall

There is a new area at the zoo meant just for little kids. There are all sorts of things to do there. One is a giant cement wall covered in green like a chalk board. Kids can draw on it or get paint brushes and "paint" with water. That is what Abigail liked.

She painted and painted for a long time. What an artist.

Tend Ladybug

When Abigail was younger she and Allison would pretend to sleep when I would come around. No matter what they would be doing they would drop it, lay down, and snore. Abigail, not being able to say "pretend" just called it "tend" sleeping.

While we were at the zoo we discovered this ladybug. She sat on it for a picture and then said, "It's not crawling. Maybe because its a tend ladybug!" What a silly girl. She makes me laugh.

I love my Gorilla!

After a long day at the zoo Abigail colapsed in my (John) arms. She was so tired she fell asleep on me. I laid her down in the stroller and she was out of it. While Allison watched the kids I ran into the gift shop and bought Abigail a stuffed gorilla. The gorilla was her favorite. She kept saying, "I want to go see that big monkey again."

Her new stuffed gorilla is named Harriet. Here she is giving Harriet a big hug in the car on the way home.

Yesterday we had our Easter egg hunt for Abigail in our yard. Dispite the 40 degree temps and the wind whipping, she had a blast. Here she is getting one out of the tree. She just ran around the yard getting really excited when she'd spot an egg. WOW, this kid is so much fun!!!

The Finished Product!

The Finished Product!
Originally uploaded by TheReillys.
This morning after breakfast we all sat down to do a first for Abigail. We colored Easter Eggs! It was a lot of fun to watch her put the eggs in the holder and dip it down into the different colored cups of dye. The dyes were super bright and this is a picture of her art. She is so proud of her eggs. Later, after they dried she put stickers on them for a final touch.

Later this evening we are going to hunt for eggs in our yard. Allison packed some candy in some eggs and I am going to hide them for Abigail. It is cold today (a high of 44`) but we are still going to do it! I will put some pictures of that on here later.

What does this blue dye do?

Happy Easter!

This past Saturday we took Abigail to her first Easter egg hunt at our YMCA. She had a great time. She got to make some crafts and do some sing-along songs too. It was so cute being with her, she's growing up so fast. Here she is with her spoils from the day.

There's Some Eggs!

Abigail sure did love hunting for Easter eggs. They were split up into age groups, and she was still with the babies, so that's why the eggs are kinda obvious. But even still she'd go to a group of like 10, pick up 3 or 4 and move on, she's so funny. At one point she ran away from me just squeeling and smiling. Good times!

The other night Allison called me into Josiah's bedroom. He has been rolling over a lot in bed and even taking some naps on his belly. However, most people who sleep on their belly turn their head to the side. Not him! He props it up on his arm right in front of him so he is facing forward. What a funny kid!

Side note: Aren't his pj's cute? Aunt Beckie bought them for him. Thanks Aunt Beckie!
