Rocky, Rocky!!!

Rocky, Rocky!!!

John put the porch swing back up this past weekend. Ever since any time we go outside Abigail immediately runs to it and says "Rocky, Rocky!" She even points at it from inside and says it too. But sometimes we just can't cause it's say 20 degrees. She sure does love it though. Funny thing is, I think her favorite part is looking at herself in the window reflection.

Who cares if it's cold?

Come on Abigail it was like 40 degrees when I took this picture, but of course she still wanted to swing. It was colder yesterday and we were in winter coats and hats all bundled together but she was grinning ear to ear to be swingin'.

Abigail wanted to say Good morning to her Daddy, she actually said it but obviously you can't hear her in the picture. But isn't she cute? She misses you and can't wait to see you tomorrow! Love you!

What's wrong with my hair?

What's wrong with my hair?

Sometimes after naps Abigail's hair is just priceless. Yesterday was just one such instance. She's still a little groggy and has a nice big mouth full of snack, but it's the hair I just had to let you see.

Look at my neck!

The other day at dinner the camera was sitting on the table and Abigail wanted me to take a picture. After taking a few others, she said "Pic, Neck, Neck" and tilted back her head. So here it is the picture of Abigail's neck. I thought it was only right to share it after she went to all the trouble of getting me to take it.

My little girl...

It is getting warmer here in NC and we are spending a good deal of time outside now. While heading to the garden the other day I captured Abigail in this picture. Sure...her hair is messy, but I still think its a beautiful picture. She and Allison spend a great deal of time in the garden pulling weeds or by the creek throwing rocks into the water.

Its hard to believe we have another one on the way so soon, but then again Abigail is almost 2! We enjoy every minute of her.

First of all let me point out to you the massive size of our garden. We pretty much doubled it from last year, i'd say it's about 20 yards long, maybe a bit more. Right now we just have a few things in it, cold weather stuff, so it's pretty easy to keep up with. Here are Abigail and I scouting out for weeds, notice she even has her tools there on standby.

"John...what is that?"

I came out of the shower this morning and Allison was standing in the living room with Abigail in her arms pointing into the dining room. She said, "John...what is that?" I couldn't see what she was talking about, but then I spotted it. A small black thing was above our back sliding doors. Thinking that it was a spider, my greatest enemy, I did not chance walking close to it. Rather I grabbed my binoculars and looked at it from a safe distance.

IT WAS A BAT! Armed with a broom, a empty diaper box, and nerves of steel I approached the beast. I knocked him down and trapped him between the box and a piece of cardboard. Outside on the deck I was able to release him.

This is a picture of him attacking me. Well, not really. I found this picture on the internet. And he really didn't attack as much as squeak out of fear and pee in my general direction.

I saved my ladies. Hero and humanitarian all around...that's me.

Starting the garden

Starting the garden

Well it's that time of year again to start the garden. I'm actually trying some different stuff that needs to go in earlier so John tilled it up with a massive piece of machinary this weekend. Here is Abigail putting on the final touches. She was a big help really, she'd go around and find rocks and throw them out for me. Here she's just digging with what's left of a see packet.

The flowers have really started to come up here, but here is Abigail checking out one of the first ones. She's especially funny when she grabs it by the "neck" and smells it, then pulls back and says, "MMMMM." Which is quickly followed by a "Mommy" which means it's now my turn.

Drawing fun!

Abigail has really taken to drawing recently. Here she is coloring, a little on herself, a picture for her Grandma. It was really fun, we traced her out, and then she colored some, she really loved it.

Olé

This past weekend I (John) was able to move into my new office and in the process Abigail found this sombrero in my office at home. Actually she found three of them and made Allison and myself wear them as well.

Sunday, after church, I was taking a nap on the couch in the living room and Abigail thought that would be a great time to revisit the sombrero fun. While I was sleeping she put one on my face. I woke up from my unintentional siesta and found some Mexican flavor on my head.

She even makes naps more fun! What a kid.
