Big helmet

As I posted in the Christmas pics, Abigail and Josiah each got big kid bikes for Christmas. It has been so stinkin cold here in Pittsburgh that they haven't really gotten to ride them. But a few weeks back it was really warm. So after nap time we loaded them up and drove to a nearby parking lot to practice. The kids did great and we all had a fun time!!!

When Samuel was a tiny baby, i'd often wonder if he'd grow up to be just as silly as his brother and sister. Well, by this point, I know very well that he has, and will continue to do so. Here he is with a potato he rummaged out of the pantry. He played with that thing forever. Yes, he certainly is a silly boy!

Look what it does to my hair

Samuel's sweet little hair doesn't stand a chance with all the static in the tent.

Cracking eggs

Cracking eggs
Originally uploaded by TheReillys
Abigail has always, since she was like 2 years old, been my little helper in the kitchen. She has always liked to stir, measure, whatever. I'm pretty sure by this point she could make the bread that we make by herself. The one thing I was always reluctant to let her help me with was cracking the eggs. But when we were baking cookies over Christmas I thought, why not, lets give it a try. She did great! Not even getting any shell in the batter. she's getting so big!!!!

WE LOVE OUR BIKES!!!

WE LOVE OUR BIKES!!!
Originally uploaded by TheReillys
We didn't get Abigail and Josiah a bunch of little things this year, but we did get each of them a BIG one. They were so excited when they came down the stairs and saw their bikes by the tree!!! They got to ride them once outside before it got really cold and snowy. They did really well, and i'm sure once it finally warms up they'll be riding them a bunch.

Christmas Eve love and Jammies

We have started some sweet traditions of our own here at the Reilly house. On Christmas Eve we go to candlelight service at church, then come home and settle in for the night. The kids each get to open up one gift (which Abigail in all her smartness has firgured out will be pjs) They get to wear them that night. The big kids and John and I head downstairs after Samuel is in bed and enjoy watching Charlie Brown's Christmas and eating some popcorn. Samuel will get to join us next year. What fun we had!

It won't fit like that silly!

One of the first things Abigail said at home after she got her bike was, "we don't have any helmets, we need helmets." We knew they were waiting for them at Bonky's so we just smiled, but didn't say anything. She was so excited when she opened it, that she tried to put it on while it was still in the package.

Safety first, even for a princess

Abigail got a dressup trunk from Bonky for Christmas. She loves it!!! I'm pretty certain that after she opened it she didn't have on any "real" clothes the rest of the time we were there. He she is in an outfit, and trying on her new bike helmet. Sweet!

One of the gifts, though simple, that I was most excited about giving Josiah for Christmas was his shaving kit. Like most little boys his age he is always excited to "shave" with Daddy. So I thought he'd love to have a shaver of his own. Check out the concentration as he looks in the mirror to get himself nice and smooth. Now anytime he shaves he'll get out of the tub when he's done and run right to Daddy and say feel how smooth I am!

Countdown

Originally uploaded by TheReillys
Each year we celebrate Advent. Taking time out each Sunday before Christmas to read the Bible and talk about Jesus' coming birthday and his coming again soon. We light some candles and have a great time focusing on the real meaning of Christmas. This year John bought us a countdown of sorts that we'll be able to use next year and fill each box with an activity, bible verse, or special treat for each day leading up to Christmas. I'm so looking forward to it!

Samuel got the coolest tricycle for Christmas. It starts out much like a rocking horse, then you move a piece and its a tricycle that he can ride on and we can push it, then take that piece off and he can peddle it for himself. I'm sure he'll have years of fun with it!!!
