Do these socks make me look fat?

Just like every little girl, Abigail is into dressing up. Only her favorite things are sock and shoes...ours.

Here is a picture of her wearing my (John's) socks and Allison's shoes. Of course the outfit would not be complete if you were wearing pants.

First trip to church

First trip to church

Here is our little man on the couch this past Sunday. He is all dressed up and ready to go to church for the first time. People were anxious to meet Josiah.

Jerry, our pastor, has been doing a pregressive study through 2 Chronicles on Sunday mornings. The past two Sundays he spoke about King Josiah. It just so happened that his sermon lined up with our Josiah's birthday.

What a cute little man. I mean Josiah...not Jerry. :)

This past weekend Abigail and Josiah's Bonky (Grandma) and Pappy came down for a quick visit to meet our little man. Here is a picture of Bonky and Josiah snuggling.

Abigail's new thing is to try to see if she can make it in to any pictures we take of Josiah. I thought we were safe with this one, but check out beside the number two.

She's so sneaky.

Josiah is now 2 weeks old and he is growing like kudzu. We had a doctor's appointment on Friday and he has already gained a pound and a half and grown 3 inches. Here he is showing some of his new strength during tummy time the other day, holding his head up so big.

Josiah was doing some tummy time today and was really trying to get his thumb in his mouth, it really turned out that he was sucking on his entire fist. But i'm positive he will turn out to be a thumb sucker like his big sister. She is laying in the background of this photo enjoying her thumb too.

Josiah's first bath

Josiah's first bath

You would think that just lying around and doing nothing would be a pretty easy and non-dirty life. Evidently not. Here is Allison holding our little man as he gets ready to get his first bath. September 7th. O.K. it is really more like a wipe down than a bath.

He has done really well with his baths, unlike his sister at his age. She hated baths.

Staring a hole through Mommy's head

Mommy and Josiah are still doing so well. He loves to sit like this, leaning back against our bent legs on the couch. He sure does have some big beautiful eyes when he opens them up.

Before I took the red eye out of the picture it looked like he was indeed trying to burn a hole through Allison's forehead. What kind of super powers does your baby have? Mine has laser-vision.

SInce then she has asked many times to hold "it". What a funny girl.

I'm the big sister and I have the shirt to prove it.

Our sweet little girl has done so well with Josiah. It is hard to believe that she is over 2 years old already. It seems like we just brought her home from the hospital, and now she is helping us bring a new one home!

She was so proud to show off her little brother to all of the nurses in the hospital. And, of course, she would show her shirt as well to prove that he was indeed HER brother.

Here is Abigail posing for the camera with her shirt. It looks like it say, "I's the big sister", but it is just a rinkle...not jive.

King Josiah of Judah

I said earlier that we have chose biblical names as first names. Abigail in Hebrew means, "The Father Rejoices" I have always wanted a little girl, so the name fit well. It truly means that "The Father", as in God, rejoices.

The name Josiah does not have definite meaning to it, but his life story is special to us. You can read it in 2 Kings 22:1-23:30 and 2 Chronicles 34:1-35:27

King Josiah came at a time in Judah (the southern kingdom of Israel) when generations of people had not followed God. There was corruption in every aspect of life. His father, Amon, was killed when Josiah was 8 years old. He became king at eight.

Early in his reign as king he instituted reforms and took steps to rid the country of idols. At age 25 Josiah decided to renovate the Lord's temple, deteriorated with age. As the workers were cleaning they found a book that no one knew of in a room that was rarely used. It was the BIble. Or at least as they knew it. The first five books.

As King Josiah listened to the Bible being read, he was struck with grief and terror. He was certain that the Lord was furious with Israel.

Immediately, Josiah began to eliminate pagan worship and renew the covenant Israel had with God.

It was said of Josiah in 2 Kings 23:25, "Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the LORD as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength."

He changed the ways of his people. He read and honored the Word of God. As a result of clinging to God's Word, he lead his people back to God. And never was there a king before or after him that was as good.

We pray that our little ones will follow King Josiah's path.

Here is our little man just before we left the hospital.

Our Little Man

Because of his little lung thing, Josiah had to have some medicine that made him extremely sleepy. It was almost a few days before we really got to see his handsome eyes. Abigail picked out this picture to blog.

Here is what she has to say about it, "gyujh7hyhgugyhghybtg."

I think that just about sums it up.

Big Sister!

Big Sister!
Originally uploaded by abigail0723.
Ms. Abigail loves her new brother. We were not sure how she would take to it. We have talked about Josiah and him coming home with us for a long time, but we still did not know how she would react.

I am so surprised at how well she has done. To her, it just seems natural for him to be here. She is interested, but easily moves on when he becomes less interesting than her toys.

Here she is visiting our little man in the hospital. She wore her "I'm the Big Sister" tee shirt to the hospital on Sunday when we brought him home. All of the nurses loved her!

Our experience with Josiah was a lot different than it was with Abigail. With Abigail, Allison went into labor at about 2am and by 5:30pm she was born. With Josiah, Allison went to the Dr. on Friday and without experiencing any pain he said, "You're in labor."

Josiah was perfect when he came out. Good color, good reflexes, etc, but he had a small hole in one lung. This sounds like a big problem, but our Dr. told us it is quite common in newborns. Within 36 hours the problem was gone thanks to some oxygen and antibiotics.

We are all home now and doing well. Allison is asleep on one couch, Josiah on the other. I (John) am typing this and Abigail is jumping around like crazy in the dining room.

Here is Josiah in his bed at the hospital. I think he is dreaming about flying. He sure smiles a lot for how little he is.

Happy to be with Mommy

Happy to be with Mommy

Well folks...here he is. Josiah Thomas Reilly was born on Friday, Septemer 1st at 4:49pm. He weighed 8 lbs. 10.75 oz. and was 20.25 inches long. He is one ounce and one inch smaller than his sister was.

Both he and Allison are doing fine. They came home Sunday the 3rd in the evening.

We have a lot of great pictures to share with you over the next few days. I thought this one would be best since he seems to be smiling.

Our trend so far has been to give biblical names as first names and family names as middles. Josiah, a king of Judah, was the best king to ever live. We'll put more about him on here later. Thomas was the middle name of Allison's dad and my grandfather's first name.

More to come!!!!
