You may have noticed the "lull" in our postings lately. Well, we are getting our computer upgraded. After 5 years of having kids we have so many digital copies of pictures and videos that our computer just needed a bit of an upgrade. We should be back on posting pictures of our cute three soon. Until then, we are taking a bit of a time out.
Yesterday we decided to take a family trip to the zoo. It was a gorgeous day. Not too hot, not that crowded. We got to see lots of cool stuff, and the kids got to do a few things they had never done before. Like this tree slide that is inside the snake house. Enjoy all our pictures from our day!
I think this was the first time I had ever actually seen the log ride open. So we decided to let the kids give it a try. Here they are just before take off.
Abigail said that her favorite part of the zoo trip this time was definitely when the polar bear swam right in her face. "It was right there!"
There are new sand tiger sharks at our zoo. There are 8 of them that swim around and around and above a tunnel you can walk under. Very cool stuff!
One of our favorite parts about the zoo here In Pittsburgh is that it has an aquarium too. Here is the giant tank of sea dragons that is at the entrance to the aquarium. They're kinda like sea horses but skinnier and they kinda just float around. The kids really enjoy this big round tank and the perspective it gives on the things inside.
This was Samuel's first zoo trip that he stayed awake to see the animals. After some time in the stroller I put him in the carrier and let him look around a bit. Once we got to the aquarium he was really interested. He would just stare up and watch those fish swim and he'd smile, then squeal really loud. I'm sure he'll have many more great zoo trips in years to come.
Very rarely does the rhino come out of his little cave, but this zoo trip he was out in plain sight. Josiah thought he was pretty cool.
Fourth of July! We had a great day! The weather was perfect for the community days that our township had. At the park nearby we got to go for firetruck rides in the morning and play games and get balloon animals in the evening and then headed home to watch amazing fireworks from our backyard. That is so cool. To just lay out in the backyard and look up and watch some of the best fireworks i've ever seen. We had some friends come and join us, caught lightning bugs first, then enjoyed some popcorn and lemonade as the fireworks flew.
Abigail proudly displaying her wand, and Josiah seeing if his alligator can fly. And Abigail won her necklace playing a game, along with some rings that look like bugs, and I won a coupon to the pharmacy, HA! Fun times!
Last year at community days Abigail loved the big bouncy slide. However, Josiah was just a tad too small. This year though, he got his chance. Here is our big man taking on the ladder to the top of the slide. He did great, climbing and then just taking on that big ole slide like it was nothing. He had a great time, and of course once he bounded to the bottom, got up with a hearty, "AGAIN!"
Abigail had a blast on the big bouncy slide last year, and couldn't wait to take her turn this year. Here she is in midair. Check out that sweet face!
Josiah and Abigail look so small just staring up at that truck. It was so cool!
Josiah really loves that Samuel is getting bigger and wanting to play. Here they are one morning (notice Josiah's too cool bed head), playing on the car rug. Josiah is a great big brother and even tries to teach Samuel what each car and truck is. Samuel is very excited to be playing like a big boy too!
Samuel just smiling at himself in the mirror. Even he can't resist that sweet smile. I know I can't!
Samuel loves to talk, to anyone who will listen, apparently even himself. Sweet!
Samuel was jealous of the other two wearing sunglasses, so he got his own. He's so cool!
It was a bit rainy this evening so the kids and I built a tunnel out of couch cushions and sleeping bags. Always a good time! Here is Josiah concentrating so much to get through. Look at that face!
Samuel long ago outgrew his infant tub, but couldn't quite sit well enough to be in the big tub. But a few nights back he made his debut, with the help of the bath seat, of course. He loved just splashing and kicking. He reminded me so much of Josiah when he was a baby. It never mattered how much water he got on his face he'd just keep splashing and having a great time.
Samuel had such a good time splashing in the tub. He tried forever to get that book, he never quite could though.
If you zoom in really close you can see Samuel's first two teeth. He has had one for about a week or so, and the second one broke through yesterday. He's pretty happy about it, they've been quite the pain. He had just finished eating. The mess on his face however is due mostly to my error, not his dislike for anything. Because if there is anything I can say about him, he can eat! Opens his mouth wide for every bite! A welcome change from when Josiah was a baby and would barely ever open up. Samuel loves all the foods he's been introduced thus far. From avocado to bananas to peas. He loves to eat! And with teeth, steak is probably the next logical step, right?
