I've gotta ya now big sis
The other day while I was sorting laundry to wash Abigail fit herself under one of the baskets, Josiah then proceeded to climb on top and trap her. Doesn't he look like he's having fun?

It has been absolutely gorgeous outside the last few days, and the leaves have started to fall a bit. Josiah and I (Allison) spent a great deal of this afternoon together outside in the leaves. Here he is showing off one that he found.
Thanks to Aunt Marty Abigail now has this awesome wrap for after bath time. Here she is looking oh so pretty as Daddy blow dries her hair.
We used to put the diaper on top of Abigail's head all the time when she was a baby, and she would just laugh. We don't do it as frequently with Josiah, but he still usually smiles. He even did right before we took this pic, but by the time the camera came out he looks more concerned than anything.
On the last day at the beach the wind stopped and the sun came out, and it was warm. We got to spend most of the day on the beach digging, or swimming in the ocean. Abigail is taking a break from all the action in this pic. It was a great week, and it was especially nice to have such a great last day.
Here is a pic of Cynthia burying Abigail. They took turns, then buried me (Allison). I think i'm still finding sand. Silly girls.
Here is Abigail all buried, I can't believe that she let us do it, but she had fun with it. She just said, "It's really cold under here." And she is liking it, she is just giving that silly awkward smile again.
Here is Cynthia, Samantha, Jaime, and Abigail working on a big hole together. Abigail still has not figured out how to smile without looking ridiculous, but they all look cute anyway. She had such a good time digging with her cousins.
Josiah loved digging in the sand, and he actually didn't eat it, which was my main concern heading into the week. He sure looks cute in his little trunks.
Josiah loved the beach so much. He even really liked getting in the water, though it was a bit cold. The crashing waves just made him laugh. Here he is enjoying some time in the big blue with Daddy.
Here's the whole crew. Left to right on the back row: Allison, Me, Josiah, Grandma Jean, Mike, Patty, Karen, Dave, Sonia, Abigail, Carrie. On the front row: Samantha, David, Mitchel, Jimmy, Jayme, Cynthia, Philip, Jarret, and Ciara.
This week we are on vacation at the outer banks of North Carolina. We try to do this each year with Allison's family. So far it has been very windy. The first day was windy, but still warm enough to play on the beach. Day two was windy and chilli. But we're all still having fun!
We were really worried that Josiah would want to eat sand when we went to the beach, but he didn't. He was very interested in it all. In this picture he is squishing a dead jellyfish in his hands! For some reason the beach was covered in them this week.
Josiah loved the waves, but his favorite thing so far is odd. He likes seagulls. He points to them and gets all excited. What a goofy kid. He has the entire ocean crashing onto shore and he likes some coastal chicken.
Here is my beautiful little girl enjoying a stroll on the beach even though the wind made it quite chilli. It was still a fun time.
When Mommy takes her baby to the beach, Abigail has to as well. So she took Erwin. Erwin is a old Cabbage Patch Doll that used to be mine (John's). I know. I know. So what. I had a doll.
Pretty soon Erwin was abandoned for a seashell or something. But that was ok. He had some time to work on his tan.
When you tell Abigail to smile...you just never know what you are going to get. She is such a ham in front of the camera. The other day she was playing in the pool in the backyard and I asked her to look up and pose. This is what I got! How funny.
Tomorrow we are heading to the Outer Banks of NC for some well needed vacation. So in order to practice we filled up a pool in the back yard. Ok....so it's not comparable, but it was fun. Here is Josiah showing off his new hat. He is very ready for the beach.
Back on October 1, 2006, Josiah's 1 month birthday I decided i'd try and take his picture on his month birthday in the same place until his 1 year birthday. It was a fun experiment watching him grow, and it was harder than I expected keeping him there after only a month. Enjoy the pics of him, i've posted them all. He's grown so much. Doesn't he look warm and cuddly there?
Already starting to grow out of his 0-3 month clothes, as noted by the inch too short sleeves in his shirt. He's always been my big man, but he was still so little back then, how sweet and tender.
For some reason, even months before he could sit on his own, Josiah would always try to sit up by himself. This is the best we could do for a couch picture this month, as he kept sitting up and almost falling off the couch. What strong abs for a little guy.
On the verge of being able to sit up on his own, Josiah looks a little more stable here and less like a blob. Cute stuff!
Still unable to crawl yet, he's looking a little chubby. But that's why he's my Budda (as in Butterball).
I love this one, with his hand out to the side and the other resting on his leg, what a pose. I also remember how funny it was taking this picture in his shorts in March, it was really warm.
What a sweet little man, sitting so straight and calm. That doesn't last, as you will soon see.
This is the best shot we could get, he looks on the verge of jumping, and in fact I think he probably did moments after the shutter snapped.
In order to even remotely get him to sit for the pic I had to give him something to hold. He's using Abigail's princess flip phone, Nice!
Here is the big man, a year old, he sure takes up a little more space on the couch. It's fun to watch him grow. I'll probably keep up taking the couch pictures, maybe every 6 months now.
While during most of the present opening Josiah could have cared less about actually opening things, Abigail thought otherwise. She was more than eager to help out. So here Josiah is opening a gift, while big sister waits in the wings, just in case.
With some help Josiah is playing with one of his new toys, her really loves this one, and so does big sister.
Josiah had a blast eating his cake, especially when we would cheer for him as he ate it. I think this particular face was brought on by something funny Abigail was doing for him. It was a great celebration of our little man's first year!
After a bit of experimenting Josiah found that to just smear the cake around and see if any made it into his mouth was the best technique.
Thanks Karen, he loves his gift. Oh, yeah and he likes the fire truck too. What a silly boy. He crawled around with that tissue paper for like half an hour. But seriously he loves the truck too.
Here is Josiah chillin' on the couch with his Aunt and Uncle. He only sat for a minute. But he was being quite the ham the rest of the visit though.
Ok, so Josiah was really more into the tissue paper, and Abigail was into his gifts. I love this look he is giving her as she plays with the truck Karen got him.
One year ago our little man came to join us. Even from the start he was a smily kid. Here he is with Allison in the hospital just after being born and he already seems happy to be with Mommy. Today is his one year birthday. He got presents, had some visitors, and ate (mostly wore) some cake for the occasion.
For dinner we had spaghetti. It's one of Josiah's favorites. Here he is enjoying the aftermath of a good Mommy-cooked meal. It was so good he is continuing to eat his spoon.
Being that today is our little man's first birthday Allison and Abigail wanted to decorate for Josiah. They went out this morning to get his cake and some decorations to make the celebration complete. The seat of honor has a special "My first birthday" balloon.
Josiah woke up from his nap to find the dining room decorated for his Birthday. He just had to touch it!
